Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March on the 26th of March, 1991. She is an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. On October 21, 2016 she debuted Pho, her first EP for the label Dreamville Records. This was when she first gained the attention of her peers. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 as she dropped her first mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014, she released more music via the Internet including Bound. In 2015, she was featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat released on the 21st of July. Later that year her music began to circulate all over the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some references for Rihanna. On December 8 it was confirmed that she had been contracted to Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 21, 2016, the artist released her debut album entitled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and performed as an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. In 2018, she performed as a guest on two songs, with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018. The music video followed by a music video in September. In November, she dropped two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November 13, she dropped two singles titled One and Pedigree. One as well as Pedigree. She was featured with Cole on the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16, and then made the track available in a solo version to her first album. The song was followed by an accompanying music video that debuted on February 20 2019 and surpassed 3 million views on YouTube in the first week. She was part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December 2018.
